We’ve been working on a new icon for our blog. We’ve been thinking a lot about what makes a good icon, like a good name, and how to make an icon that speaks to people. A lot of people have been telling us that the icon should be pretty simple, and it shouldn’t try to be too “graphic.
The design of the web application icon is pretty simple and should not try to be too graphic. It is an open icon, so it can be scaled up or down to fit the needs of anyone, and it is open source so anyone can make their own version.
As our icon is open, anyone can make it. All you need is an image and some text and youve got yourself a web icon. The only thing that sets this icon apart from the thousands of other icons we see is that it is open. This means that anyone can make their own icon by just clicking on this link and copying the code.
As a designer, the web icon is very similar to our icon. The only difference is that if you go to our site you can actually download a web icon. The only difference between the two, is that our icon is open instead of the regular icon, so anyone can make one.

Our icon is a huge time saver. If you are designing a website or mobile app, then you need to think about icons (and graphics, not graphics). We don’t like having to go through all the different options to get a nice icon. A great way to save time is to just click the icon image and the code will be downloaded.
The web application icon is not the only icon for web applications. There is also an icon for mobile applications. It takes a little longer to get the code from the download link, but it is nice to know that it can be downloaded from our site.
